The Road Development Agency (RDA) has been constructing a 3 X 2 metres in-situ concrete box culvert along the Mporokoso-Mununga Road in Mporokoso District in Northern Province.
Physical progress is at 87%. The works being undertaken by the RDA Northern Regional Office are planned to be completed by the end of January 2024.
The Mporokoso-Mununga Road is currently impassable and once the works on the box culvert are completed, connectivity will be restored and this would provide an important link between Northern and Luapula Provinces.
The RDA has been undertaking construction/rehabilitation works of culverts on the country’s road network.
Culverts are important installations as they reduce the build-up of standing water, minimize soil erosion and provide an escape channel for excessive storm water.
They also help prevent flooding and provide pathways for run-offs.
