The construction of a series comprising five ACROW Bridges across Muyembe River along the Zambezi-Chinyama-Litapi Road in Zambezi District in North-Western has been completed.
The Road Development Agency (RDA) in first quarter of 2023 embarked on the project to construct five ACROW Bridges using Zambia Army as the contractor.
The scope of works included but was not limited to the following:
- Site clearing and camp establishment;
- Construction of two reinforced concrete abutments;
- Erosion protection works;
- Construction of approach embankments;
- Assembly of the prefabricated steel superstructures;
- Launching of the prefabricated steel superstructures; and
- Ancillary works.
The bridges are now open to traffic.
