The Road Development Agency (RDA) has been undertaking holding maintenance works on the Chipata-Lundazi Road in Eastern Province.
The works which resumed in July 2024 are an interim measure to ensure that the sections of the road in a poor state are worked on to make the road motorable during the rainy season. The works include construction of a neat gravel wearing course, edge and shoulder repair, pothole patching and sealing works as well as minor reconstruction of selected sections.
Further, we wish to report that under the Millennium Challenge Compact (II) Project, 220 kilomeres of Chipata-Lundazi Road will be rehabilitated. This includes the section up to Chief Magodi area in Chasefu District.
Therefore, the scope of works for the current contractor has been revised to holding maintenance to ensure the road is motorable before the commencement of the Millennium Challenge Compact (II) Project.
